Mexico

Yesterday we flew into Puerta Vallarta Mexico and landed on the hot tarmac.  We walked into the airport and went through a half hour line for immigrations.  Then we went to get our luggage and Pico.  Pico was so happy to see us!  He jumped around and tried to say hello to every person he saw!  When we got outside someone was waiting for us with a White, or Blanco, Chevrolet Suburban.

After we drove for about a half hour through little villages in the jungle we got to Sayulita.  It felt like when you get home from a trip and you’re so excited to see if anything’s changed.  One of the few things that has changed was the beach, it used to be more flat but now there’s almost a drop-off from the houses onto the sand.  The hurricane  must have done this to the beach.  The other thing that has changed is my friend Jade doesn't live here anymore.  She moved to Seattle and has an awesome house with a pool.

After we put our stuff away and changed into our shorts we ran down to the beach and  jumped in the water. It wasn’t even cold. The ocean was a little bit warmer than some cup o noodles left out for a half hour.  The waves were huge and they came crashing down on top of us again and again.  The water was green and brown from the sand being stirred up. The crashing water made a frothy white foam around us and the salt stung on our faces.

When we finished swimming we went in the pool. it was the same temperature as the ocean.  We jumped off a rock into the pool but the pool wasn’t deep enough to dive or do flips. There were underwater lights giving the pool an eerie glow as if we’re inside a beachfront horror movie.  We went back up to the casita, little house, and dried off.

Later we walked to my favorite pizza place Pizza Venezia.  It started a couple years ago with a guy from venice cooking amazing calzones, bread, and pizza in a microwave oven.  We’ve watched him progress over the years to where he is now, a huge restaraunt with a real pizza oven.  Now he makes salad and bread too!  Anyways, Griffin and I split a calzone, and my parents got a salad and a pizza.  The dough is the thin but not hard, its warm and full of flavor.  I had been looking forward to a pizza from him for a long time.  After that we came back to the house, and since it was almost midnight, went to sleep.

The next day I found an Anole.  It’s a type of lizard, they can be green, orange, or cream colored.  The one I found is creamy, it has black spots down it’s back and the spots get smaller as they move toward his tail.  He has a jumpy nature, literally!  They can hop up to two feet in distance and about a foot in the air.  They eat bugs such as flies, ants, beetles, and moths.  You can tell their gender by looking at their throat. If it is red or orange it is a male, and if their throat is white it’s a female. Here’s a picture of Twitch
