Tequila Agave

This is a list of plants that are growing in or near our garden.

1. Hibiscus or Hibisco in Spanish is a colorful flowering plant that is  sometimes used to make hamica, a fruity red tea.  The scientific name is Hibiscus rosa-sinensis.
2. Coconut Palm Tree or coco palmera in Spanish is your typical tropics palm that you will see almost anywhere in the tropics, watch out for falling coconuts.  The scientific name is Cocos nucifera.
3. Tequila Agave or Agave Tequila in Spanish, sometimes called blue agave this plant is part of making tequila. The scientific name is Agave tequilana. 
4. Bouganvillea or bugambilia in Spanish is an annual flowering plant that can range from whites to reds.
5. Geranium or geranio in Spanish, is a flowering plant usually purple or pink in color. 
6. Traveler’s Palm or palma del viajero in spanish, these palms look like a giant fan and they are called a “traveler’s palm because they grow in a north south line and can serve as a crude compass.  The scientific name is Ravenala madagascariensis.
7. Banana trees or arboles de platanos in spanish, are the trees that  bananas come from,they usually have fronds and red fruit hanging below the bananas.  
8. Cup of gold or copa de oro in Spanish, this is a fast growing vine with golden flowers. The scientific name is Solandra maxima.
9. Ixora is a small shrub that grows just up to four feet high and has red flowers that flower all year. 
10. We have one small rose that is pink and white and all alone without any others.
